Chainsaw Safety Training

Training will be provided by Safety Services Nova Scotia.
The classroom course content includes:
- Required equipment and PPE
- Components of machine and safety devices
- Pre-operational inspection
- Hazards associated with this equipment
- Safe operation
- Basic maintenance
- Techniques for: felling, use of felling aids, limbing and bucking
Classroom content is presented in the morning, followed by a lunch break and then a hands-on practical portion of the course.
In the hands-on portion, participants will learn notching and bucking.
All participants are encouraged to bring their own chainsaw for a safety review.
Participants doing the hands-on portion of the course must provide their own safety equipment:

Half day safety awareness course fee: $123 per person
Full Day safety awareness and hands-on training: $194 per person.
Please note that the price per person will be reduced if the number of participants is over 7.
Farm Safety Nova Scotia covers additional instructor fees, mileage and in collaboration with the Foresty Sector Council, the cost of logs for the hands on training.
